Happy belated birthday. Every day Gary and I remind ourselves to be grateful that in spite of some health issues lately, we are still alive and kicking. Still able to do all the things we enjoy, and still alert and curious. Life longing learning is the key to happiness for us! I hope you will continue to share your musings. I enjoy reading them.

I realized after posting that I was unclear. My birthday is in November, and the milestone was reaching the average life expectancy of 75.8, a detail I had intended to include. This is one of my biggest struggles with writing: I become snow-blind when it comes to proofreading. I know in my head what I want to say, but it’s easy to miss an important point.

Nevertheless, I’m trying to set aside some time each day to write. Most of it ends up in the delete pile, but even that practice is helpful. I’m also wrestling with how to approach more personal subjects. Nothing scandalous... just thoughts on life, religion, and quantum entanglement. Still, since some might find my views offensive, I may just try to sneak slowly up on the subject.

Maybe Irene can be your proof reader? I do that for my brother David’s newsletters. As a writer, you don’t have to always accept your editor’s suggestions for revision! Who might your ideal readers be? Can you picture them in your mind as you write? Honesty is always a challenge when writing: how transparent and vulnerable do you want to be? David struggles with this as well in every newsletter he writes because he has such a varied audience of readers.

That would be wonderful. Having someone to take a critical eye to my writing would be great. Unfortunately Irene, who is an excellent editor, seldom reads what I write.
